Fifth Annual National Community Network Conference
Austin, Texas
December 8th - 10th, 2002

For the fifth year, the nation's leaders in community networking and information technology will gather in Austin to share information and develop public interest in community technology programs.

Organized and presented by the TeleCommunity Resource Center (TCRC) and Association for Community Networking (AFCN), this conference will bring together some of the nation's leading community networking experts to discuss new technologies, advanced projects and services, funding, support, and other exciting possibilities and realities of community networks and technology centers. You are invited to attend this Community Networking conference, sharing in the scholarly research, professional discourse, and valuable opportunities.

The speakers will include international and national community networking leaders as well government officials bringing you news and prospects for the future of community technology. Additionally, many speakers serving on panels have either implemented community networking projects in the near past or are currently implementing new projects. With the inclusion of these panelists from the "trenches", the conference will provide practical information for individuals searching for new ideas in the development of community networks and community technology centers.

The conference will kick off on Sunday afternoon with showcase presentations discussing the latest relevant technology, and leading community networking projects from across the United States and abroad. Following on Monday and Tuesday will be a series of practical workshop sessions and keynote addresses designed to provide up-to-date information on community networks and community technology centers.  Additionally, an area will be set aside for vendor demonstrations and exhibits.

The conference will consist of three separate workshop tracks:

  1. Building and Maintaining a Community Network

  2. Program Services and Ideas for Innovation

  3. Technology and Bandwidth Choices.
